GOOGLE TRENDING QUESTIONS DID NOT DRIVE 5,000-8,000 VIEWS Using Google Trends to find trending questions daily and answering them on Quora within 24 hours failed to generate 5,000-8,000 views in 7 days. Total views stayed at 1,200-1,800 (vs target 5,000-8,000). Kill switch activated after day 3 when views <1,500. → Google trending topics don't translate to Quora engagement. 2. TRENDING ON GOOGLE ≠ TRENDING ON QUORA Google Trends tracks search volume across the entire web. Quora's audience has different interests and consumption patterns: - Google trending: news, entertainment, viral events - Quora trending: evergreen how-to, career advice, technical questions Topics trending on Google (celebrity news, political events, viral memes) had minimal Quora question matches or low-quality questions with spam answers. → Platform behavior mismatch. Google trends predict Google traffic, not Quora traffic. 3. TRENDING QUESTIONS HAD TOO MUCH COMPETITION When a topic trends on Google, hundreds of people rush to answer related Quora questions. By the time we answered (within 24 hours), questions already had 20-50 answers. Our answers got buried under early responders who answered within 1-2 hours of trending. → Speed matters more than we thought. 24-hour window is too slow for trending topics. 4. GOOGLE-TRENDING TOPICS WERE OUTSIDE ETHUM'S NICHE Most Google trending topics in 7 days: - Breaking news (political events, disasters) - Entertainment (movie releases, celebrity gossip) - Sports (game results, player trades) Very few matched ETHUM's niche (B2B SaaS, sales ops, growth systems). When we forced answers on trending topics outside our niche, engagement was low because we had no authority or audience in those spaces. → Chasing trends outside your niche = no credibility = no engagement. 5. DUAL-PLATFORM TRAFFIC HYPOTHESIS WAS WRONG The hypothesis assumed answering Google-trending questions on Quora would capture traffic from both Quora's algorithm AND Google's search index. This didn't happen because: - Google ranks established Quora answers (6+ months old), not new ones - New answers on trending questions don't rank on Google for weeks/months → Google SEO benefits take months, not days. Can't measure in 7-day sprint. WHAT TO DO INSTEAD ────────────────────────────────────────────────── ✅ Focus on evergreen, niche-specific questions (not trending) Use Quora's internal search to find high-view, low-answer questions in B2B SaaS, sales ops, and growth systems. Ignore Google Trends. ✅ Answer within 1-2 hours if chasing trending topics (not 24 hours) If you must chase trends, speed is critical. 24-hour delay = buried under 20-50 other answers. ✅ Stay in ETHUM's niche regardless of trends Better to answer 100 niche questions with authority than chase viral topics where you have no credibility. ✅ Optimize for Quora's algorithm, not Google's Quora's recommendation algorithm rewards high-upvote answers on questions with active readership. Google SEO is a long-term byproduct, not a 7-day sprint metric.
